JCTLM survey

The JCTLM (Joint Committee for Traceability in Laboratory Medicine) is currently conducting a survey on information and services provided and processes used by the JCTLM, to obtain feedback on the future direction of the JCTLM activities.

The JCTLM Strategy Task Group has developed the questionnaire to inform the Committee on stakeholder opinions of, and needs for the JCTLM Database of Reference Materials, Methods and Services for in vitro diagnostics  JCTLM Database (jctlmdb.org) and invite you to take a few minutes to complete the online questionnaire to provide feedback as this will help to ensure the JCTLM continues to provide services that are aligned to stakeholder needs.

The closing date for completing the on-line questionnaire is 30 September 2023.

The signatory status of Georgian Accreditation Center – The Unified National Body of Accreditation, Georgia, to the ILAC MRA has been extended to include PTP (ISO/IEC 17043).

Membership Update

Global Laboratory Accreditation Board (GLAB)’s Associate membership with ILAC was terminated on 21 July 2023 by decision of the Executive Committee in accordance with “ILAC-R2A:11/2019 ILAC Rules: Articles of Association Article 6 paragraph 1. a.”

Hong Kong Association for Testing, Inspection and Certification Limited (HKTIC) has submitted notice of termination to ILAC and accordingly, HKTIC’s Stakeholder membership was terminated on 5 July 2023.

JCTLM Workshop: EQA schemes elucidating the clinical suitability of laboratory results

Registration is now open! for the JCTLM Members’ and Stakeholders’ Meeting and Workshop on ‘EQA schemes elucidating the clinical suitability of laboratory results’ to be held at the BIPM Sèvres, France on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 December 2023.

The biennial meeting of the Members and Stakeholders will start with a morning session on JCTLM update and report on 4 December and will be followed by a Workshop to explore the relationship between proficiency testing/external quality assurance (EQA) and traceability. A range of experts will describe the current quality of laboratory assays and how EQA schemes can identify where improvement in assays is needed. The theme of this Workshop is how EQA schemes can improve and provide a more helpful assessment of this quality. Interaction between the speakers and the audience will be a feature.

The meeting will be held as a hybrid event.

The workshop is open to all individuals and groups with an interest in traceability and method standardization or harmonization. These include laboratory medicine specialists, EQA providers, IVD manufacturers, and national metrology institutes. Participants will be able to share with peers and experts and access the Workshop presentation. The registration fees are 295.00 EUR (covering catering for 2 days) for in person participation or 75.00 EUR and for online participation.

Membership change – ACFS, Thailand

National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS), Thailand, is now a Full Member of ILAC. 

ACFS has become a signatory to the ILAC MRA for inspection (ISO/IEC 17020).  ACFS originally joined ILAC as an Associate member on 26 May 2022 and we are now pleased to welcome ACFS as a Full Member of ILAC.

2022 ILAC MRA report published

The 2022 ILAC MRA Report and infographic is now available to download.

 

ILAC and its accreditation body members invest significant effort and resources to maintain the integrity and consistency of the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA), also known as the ILAC Arrangement, through a peer evaluation process.

 

This report provides information on the activities carried out as part of the global peer evaluation process in 2022 in order to ensure that both regulators and consumers of laboratory and inspection data, as well as users of proficiency testing programs and reference materials are able to maintain confidence in the services accredited by the signatories to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA).

Signatory status of OGA, Guatemala re-instated

The signatory status of Oficina Guatemalteca de Acreditación (OGA), Guatemala, to the ILAC MRA has been re-instated effective 30 May 2023 following the suspension in March 2023. This re-instatement of the signatory status of OGA to the ILAC MRA is a result of the re-instatement of the signatory status of OGA to the IAAC MLA and in accordance with IAF/ILAC A2 Annex 7.

ILAC Assessment Procedure in the field of Telecommunications

ILAC has now published the ILAC Assessment Procedure in the field of TelecommunicationsThis document is created in the framework of cooperation established under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). 

 

The ITU is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs).

 

The ITU maintains a register of test laboratories that are eligible to test ICT equipment against the ITU-T Recommendations in the ITU list of recognized test laboratories. The ILAC Assessment Procedure in the field of Telecommunications has been produced to inform ILAC MRA signatory accreditation bodies about the requirements that must be met by testing laboratories seeking to be registered on the ITU list of recognized test laboratories.

Invitation to Tender: IAF-ILAC Secretariat Services

The IAF and ILAC Executive Committees have prepared an Invitation to tender for provision of the Secretariat for the transition from IAF and ILAC to the NEW BODY, for the period of 01 January 2024 – 31 December 2026 inclusive.
