Before submitting an enquiry, please have a look at the information below, as it may answer your questions.

  1. Can ILAC accredit my laboratory or inspection body?

ILAC is an organisation for accreditation bodies involved in the accreditation of laboratories and inspection bodies. It is these accreditation bodies that directly accredit laboratories, not ILAC.

You will therefore need to contact the accreditation body in the country where you require accreditation services.  They will be able to provide you with all the details on the requirements, process and costs for accrediting your laboratory or inspection body.

The list of ILAC MRA signatories is available from http://ilac.org/signatory-search/ and it is searchable by economy.

  2. Can ILAC issue a calibration, test or inspection report for my goods?

ILAC itself does not undertake any calibration, testing or inspection activities and therefore does not issue any calibration, test or inspection reports.

Instead, you will need to contact an accreditation body that is a signatory to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) in the country where you require calibration/testing/inspection to be carried out. The accreditation body will be able to provide you with the contact details for facilities accredited for the testing you need.

The contact details for the accreditation bodies that are signatories to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) are available from http://ilac.org/signatory-search/, and this directory is searchable by economy. Also included in the information provided for most accreditation bodies is a link to their online directory of accredited facilities, allowing you to search their directory yourself.

  3. How can I become a member of ILAC?

Information on the categories of membership of ILAC and the associated criteria is available from http://ilac.org/ilac-membership/membership-criteria/.
Once you have had an opportunity to review this information, please email the ILAC Secretariat regarding which category of membership you are interested in. We will then be able to provide further details on the process of applying for membership for the category you have specified, as well as the costs involved.

Please note that the ILAC membership categories do not include a category for individual laboratories or inspection bodies. However, associations of laboratories and inspection bodies may be able to join via the Stakeholder category.

  4. How to find a list of international accredited facilities?

We do not have a single database that lists all the laboratories and inspection bodies accredited in the world.

To find an accredited laboratory or inspection body, you will need to contact the accreditation body in the country where you require calibration, testing or inspection to be carried out. The accreditation body will be able to provide you with the contact details for facilities accredited for the work you require.

The contact details for the accreditation bodies that are signatories to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) are available from http://ilac.org/signatory-search/, and this directory is searchable by economy. Also included in the information provided for many of the accreditation bodies is a link to their online directory of accredited facilities, allowing you to search their directory yourself.

  5. Does ILAC offer any training courses?

ILAC does not offer training courses.

If you contact the accreditation body in the country where you would like to attend a training course that is a signatory to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA), they will be able to advise when training courses are scheduled for ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 15189 and ISO/IEC 17020.

The contact details for accreditation bodies that are signatories to the ILAC MRA are available from http://ilac.org/signatory-search/, and this directory is searchable by economy.

  6. Does ILAC offer any proficiency testing programs?

ILAC does not provide proficiency testing programs.

To find an accredited proficiency testing provider, you could try contacting the accreditation bodies in the economy where you are based, or by directly searching the online directories of accredited proficiency providers located at http://ilac.org/about-ilac/other-accreditation-programmes/
