The signatory status of National Center of Accreditation (NCA), Republic of Kazakhstan, has been extended to include medical (ISO 15189).

The Joint BIPM, OIML, ILAC and ISO Declaration on Metrological Traceability was updated and re-signed on 13 November 2018 during the 26th meeting of the CGPM, held in Versailles.

The Joint Declaration available from here highlights the importance of metrological traceability and encourages the members of the four organizations – as well as others for whom metrological traceability is important – to adopt its recommendations. It is also referenced in the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 General requirements for the competence of testing.

This 2018 version was signed by Martin Milton (for the BIPM), Stephen Patoray (for OIML), Merih Malmqvist Nilsson (for ILAC), and Sergio Mujica (for ISO) and reaffirms the original Joint Declaration signed on 9 November 2011.

As a result of a recent ballot, ILAC G26:11/2018 Guidance for the Implementation of a Medical Accreditation Scheme has been published.

This is a practical guide for accreditation bodies implementing a medical laboratory accreditation system using ISO 15189.

The SI is a globally-agreed system of measurements used to ensure our everyday units of measurement, for example the kilogram, metre and second remain comparable and consistent world wide. The world’s scientific and technical community is about to agree to the redefinition of four of the seven base units for the SI to ensure the system continues to meet the future demands for measurements and science. A vote to adopt the change will be held on November 16, 2018 at the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) at the Palais des Congrès in Versailles.

As part of the ILAC and IAF Annual Meetings held in Singapore from the 22nd – 31st of October 2018, the ILAC General Assembly was held on the 29th and 31st of October 2018. The adopted resolutions from the ILAC 2018 General Assembly are now available here.

The signatory status of Organismo Salvadoreño de Acreditacion (OSA), El Salvador, has been extended to include inspection (ISO/IEC 17020).

Belarusian State Centre for Accreditation (BSCA) is now a Full Member of ILAC. 

BSCA has become a signatory to the ILAC MRA for testing (ISO/IEC 17025) and calibration (ISO/IEC 17025).  BSCA originally joined ILAC as an Affiliate Member in 2004, then became an Associate member in 2011, and we are now pleased to welcome BSCA as a Full Member of ILAC.

Mauritius Accreditation Service (MAURITAS) is now a Full Member of ILAC. 

MAURITAS has become a signatory to the ILAC MRA for testing (ISO/IEC 17025) and calibration (ISO/IEC 17025).  MAURITAS originally joined ILAC as an Affiliate Member in 2000, then became an Associate member in 2008, and we are now pleased to welcome MAURITAS as a Full Member of ILAC.

As a result of an on-site peer evaluation of The Kyrgyz Center of Accreditation (KCA) and the recent ILAC Arrangement Council ballot, the suspended signatory status of KCA to the ILAC MRA for the accreditation of testing laboratories using ISO/IEC 17025 has been lifted, effective 2 October 2018.

In addition, the scope of KCA’s signatory status to the ILAC MRA has been extended to include the accreditation of calibration laboratories using ISO/IEC 17025.
