The ISO-IAF-ILAC communiqué on ISO 15189 accreditation was issued to address the misconception in the market that medical laboratories accredited to ISO 15189:2007 do not operate a recognized management system.

The Joint IAF-ILAC Communiqué on What is covered or planned to be covered in the immediate future by the respective arrangements of IAF, IAF/ILAC or ILAC, has been posted on the ILAC and IAF websites as agreed during the Stockholm meetings.
The above link is the Second Communication to be issued with respect to the WADA/ILAC cooperation regarding anti-doping laboratories. The First Communication was released in August 2004 during the early stages of the cooperation. WADA and ILAC have since signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) dated 15 November 2007, and this can be obtained from the ILAC website. The MoU provides useful background information on the nature and context of the cooperation and should be consulted in associated with this document.
This statement is a reflection of the ongoing close cooperation between ILAC, BIPM and OIML and promotes the use of the three existing Mutual Recognition Arrangements.
